about us

Our community begins at home, firmly rooted in familial traditions. Founded in 1929 as the Jewish Home for Aged, The Cedars is committed to the practice and vision of honoring our fathers and mothers. A nonprofit, non-sectarian community, The Cedars is consistently growing and changing to meet the modern needs of our vibrant senior population. We welcome all residents without regard to religion, race or ability.

Throughout the years, we have continually grown in response to community needs. In 1963, for example, we added our rehabilitation services. Then, in 1991, The Cedars relocated to our present location on Ocean Avenue in order to provide an expanded state-of-the-art Rehabilitation Center within the new facility. Here our rehabilitation team of physical, occupational and speech therapists utilize state of the art programming to help people recover from surgeries, injuries and illnesses.

The Atrium opened in 1999, introducing a bright new vision of exceptional independent senior living. This award-winning addition to the community with 61 spacious apartments offers numerous recreational, educational, cultural and wellness opportunities.

With a rich heritage of caring and innovative insight on aging, The Cedars offers several living options - all in a dynamic community of warm and welcoming neighbors and staff. We are a member of AASHA (American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging) and share its commitment as a mission driven, not-for-profit organization providing services people need, when they need them, in the place they call home.
